Chat (Beta Feature) FAQ

What is a Chat Item?

• A Chat Item is a feature available only in the beta version that allows users to communicate through text chat.
• Place a Chat Item from Special Items in Room Edit, then select the item to open the chat window.
• Even if multiple Chat Items are placed, there is only one chat window per room.
• You can send text messages and stickers.
• By entering commands such as /dice 2d6, you can generate random numbers as if rolling dice. (In this example, two numbers between 1 and 6 are generated, and their total is displayed.)

How do I switch to the Text Chat Beta?

• Text Chat is a beta feature. To use it, you must change the setting in Steam.

  • Open Steam and select the Library tab.
  • Find gogh: Focus with Your Avatar in the game list.
  • Select the game, click the gear icon, and choose Properties.
  • When the Properties window opens, select Game Version & Betas from the menu on the left.
  • Select public-beta-branch to switch to the beta version.
• You can return to the default version at any time.
  • To switch back, follow the same steps and select Default Release Version at the end.

Can I see chat in the Default Version?

• No. Text Chat Items and chat windows are not displayed in the Default Version.
• Text Chat Items placed in a beta-version room will disappear when you switch back to the Default Version. They will reappear if you switch back to the beta version.

Can users on the Beta Version and Default Version play together?

• Yes. Multiplayer is available between the Default Version and the Beta Version.
• If a user on the Default Version joins a beta-version Multi Room, Text Chat Items will not be displayed and text chat cannot be used.

How does chat work in Multi Rooms?

• You can view chat messages sent after you enter the room.
• Chat history is reset when you move to a different room.
• Messages you send are visible to everyone in the room.
• If you delete one of your previous messages, it will also be deleted for other users.

Chat Moderation

• In Multi Room text chat, users cannot send a large number of messages in a short period of time, repeatedly send the same message, send messages containing prohibited words, or send messages containing URLs.
• From the menu on another user's message, you can start a vote kick or block that user.
• Messages sent by blocked users will no longer be displayed. For more information about blocking behavior, please refer to the gogh Help Center - Multiplayer.

Can I use chat outside of Multi Rooms?

• Yes. Chat can also be used in your own room.
• Chat history is preserved when moving between rooms, but it is cleared when the app is closed.
